What is USP4GG?!
In the last days of 2015, the US Pinoys for Good Governance (USP4GG) was successfully organized in the state of Michigan. Inspired by Fil-Am global leader and its founder, Loida Nicolas-Lewis, USP4GG Michigan truly represents the advocacy work of Fil-Am leaders with the following mission:
USP4GG stands for United States Pinoys for Good Governance. Our organization establishes good governance between Filipino Americans and the mainstream community that benefits the common good, and provide opportunities for empowerment and civic engagement. We serve the Filipino-American, Asian-American and mainstream American community at large.
We define “Good Governance” as the process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented (or not implemented). Good governance has 8 major characteristics. It is participatory, consensus oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and efficient, equitable and inclusive and follows the rule of law.
We recognize that there are many ways we can serve our community by using these ideals as an anchor for our mission.
Some of our SPECIFIC GOALS:
Educate the Filipino American community members about the principles and values of good governance
Promote the history, culture and values of Filipino Americans for better understanding
Encourage community members to discuss issues and concerns affecting them
Encourage Filipinos who are US citizens to apply for and obtain dual citizenship
Encourage Filipinos to register and vote in the Philippines and US elections
Promote and participate on projects of the Philippines and United States for good governance that will benefit the common good, and provide opportunities for empowerment and civic engagement.
Aside from these specific goals, our organization aims to support educated citizens and communities. Hosting successful events that educate members and the community on important topics that allow both Filipino-American, Asian-American and all ethnic communities to be a more informed and armed citizen is how we gauge our success.
Usp4gg is a 501(c)(3) organization. We are non political.
